I just ordered my DVX-100B, and I just found out there is no 24p support in Final Cut Express! I'm starting to FREAK OUT. Can anyone please tell me if there is a plugin or anything that will help me out!!! HELP! AHH!:crybaby::zombie_smiley:

emoo124u,

Unfortunately, no. FCE does not support 24p so you are going to have to go to Final Cut Pro. Sorry for the bad news. But look on the bright side- you're getting a DVX!

Cheers,
John

I also have FCE and a DVX100B, and am fairly new to this. I actually did my first paid shoot last night :-) But anyway, will FCE support 30p? And what is the easiest/cheapest way to get FCP without spending 2 grand?

Don,

I'm not sure about 30p; I never tried it and I haven't used FCE for a while now. Check out the boards here, at CreativeCow and other digital arts sites for people unloading FCP. You can usually get a really good deal. Decided if you need FCP 6 or if you can settle for 5, and this will save you a few bucks.

Good luck,

John

Express will support 29.97.

24p as shot with the DVX is indeed 29.97.

If you mean 24fps... then no. It won't... oddly!!

I've uploaded 24p into FCE before. I know it won't pulldown 24pa though. How do I change what kind of timeline I use? Or can I not do that in FCE?

Sorry for stealing the thread, emoo124u lol. I'm guessing you've got some of these questions too though.

Just shoot 24p normal, and edit like you would any other footage. Like the good Captain said, 24p normal shot on the DVX is treated like any other 29.97 footage in an editing ap.

Yes, of course. Ryan and the Capt'n are correct. Sorry, I was assuming that you wanted to edit in a 23.98 timeline. Apologies for any undue stress.

Cheers,

John
