24p capture/sequence help

I searched through the forums but couldn't find an answer to this problem. I just got my DVX and shot some test footage in 24p. In FCP, i made my capture preset DV NTSC Advanced (2:3:3:2) Pulldown removal. I made my sequence preset DV NTSC - 24.

The problem is that a lot of the frames appear very badly interlaced. It goes about 8 good ones, then a really jaggy interlaced frame, then 2 or 3 good ones, then more interlace, etc etc. There is probably a pattern to when the interlace happens but I haven't figured it out yet. If I de-interlace the footage, it gets a lot more pixelated.

Can someone tell me what is going on? Do I need to change some settings? I want my progressive to be nice and NON INTERLACED. Please help!

you need to de-interlace it evenly. working in 29.97 fps requires an odd de-interlacing while working in 23.98 fps needs to be de-interlaced evenly.

Use advanced pulldown removal ONLY for 24pa footage; not 24p.
If it's 24p you put it in a 29.97 timeline (with interlace) or you reverse telecine in Cinema Tools.
Make sure the 24 sequence true fps is 23.98. (not 24fps)
