24p auto focus

I hope i don't sound like a complete moron :(

When the camera is in F1, i can zoom all the way across a football field, and the auto focus will keep a sharp image right to the max zoom......but when i am in F5 or F6 (24p) i do the same zoom, all the way, but the auto focus seems to leave it blurry. Is there something i am not doing right......or am i as unexperienced as i thought i was LOL.

If i did not explain myself clearly, i apologize, but any help would be appreciated :)

The auto focus isn't a true auto focus in 24p -- it's more of a focus "assist."

In any case, you should be focusing manually anyway . . . :)

it takes longer for the cam to auto focus when in 24p. Should focus out eventually though.

^ Like he says above it's a focus assist not an automatic feature ^

that is something that seems cool. although i dont have much experience with the dvx, i hate autofocus so having a very very subtle one to correct a slightly under or over-focused image is nice..

then again, the whole appeal of the DVX for me is the true manual zoom and focus rings... so autofocus doesnt matter either way.

You guys are awesome, thank you.

What we were doing is attempting to film a football game in 24p. The auto focus helps up when someone is far away and runs toward the camera quickly....but the real problem arouse when they ran away, and you zoom in to get them, but the focus did not snap in.
Now that i have a better understanding......i will just get quicker on the draw for manual focus!

Peace out and thank you :)
