24P AND INTERLACED COMBINED

Micheal,
Hey man, hows it going. I don't know if you heard, but I am now working as a manufacturers rep for Boris as well as Virtual Katy. I also am working on a little indi project, and have a few questions for you. We are getting 5 DVX100a's and are planning on shooting in the 24p mode. In the end I think we are going to plan on blowing it up/transfering it to 35mm film for theatrical release. So my question to you is this.... Can I mix 24p and interlaced??(I don't think I can) And if so, how. If I can't do you have any suggestions. We will be getting the interlaced video via a lipstick camera, as survalence video. So if it looks different, its no big deal, in fact, it will most likely be Effected to make sure people know its survalence video. I appreciate the assist.

Re: 24P AND INTERLACED COMBINED

Hi Grant!

Congrats on the new job! That's cool. Now I can send you questions on some of these plug-ins!

As far as mixing the two... you really can't. You may want to process your 30i material in a 30p project and create progressive frames. Export the progressive frames as QT or sequential TIFF and import into the 24p project. It will now play back 25% slower but you can now apply a speed change if you need it back up to speed.

I just turn deck control off and digitize the 24p stuff right into my 29.97 project.
Works great unless your offlining.
