24p and 60i on same timeline

Would anyone happen to have a clue on how to edit 24p footage along with 60i on the same timeline without messed up frames?

You only use 24pA if you are going to edit on a 23.98 fps timeline... visually, it looks the same as regular 24p. If you are using 60i footage in the same timeline (and not for time remapping purposes) then you need to shoot regular 24p and edit in a 60i timeline.

hey wow check this out. put your 24pA footage in the 60i timeline then check always dienterlace. tell me what ya think

OK, let's clear a few things up. :)

You CAN edit 24pA footage on a 60i timeline. It's stored on tape as 60i and can be captured that way if you want.

But you don't WANT to edit 24p footage on a 60i timeline. The way the 24p frames are split up and arranged in the 60i stream makes it so that when it's played back AS 60i, the motion may stutter noticeably six times per second, whereas with standard 24p pulldown, you get the smoothest playback.

If your intent is to edit in 60i, then it's not a "bummer" that you shouldn't use 24pA, because if you're editing in 60i, you're not using any of the benefit of 24pA in the first place. The entire benefit of 24pA -- the sole reason it exists -- is that it's easier and more efficient to remove the pulldown in order to edit on a 24p timeline. So, if you're not editing in 24p, it not only does nothing for you, it also works against you (see above).

You do NOT want to deinterlace 24p footage with either type of pulldown. It'll leave you with a mess.
