Just shot a short 2 camera piece with with another DVX100a owner. Shooting in 24p. One camera got reset to 24pa for a few shots due to the scene wheel moving (should have gaffer taped) Will this 24pa footage be useable along with the 24p footage? It's going to DVD only Thanks, Craig

Yes! All your footage is usable. You need to make sure one or the other is converted to the editing format (presumably 24p?) by importing the 24pA clips into a 24p timeline, then export as 29.97 clips and edit from those. That's what I would do anyways. Maybe if you explain what software you have more helpful/specific responses could be offered. Hope this helps. Good luck.

If you're editing with Vegas, you can plug 24pn and 24pa clips into the same 24p project and Vegas will automatically remove the pulldown. That's just with Vegas though. If you're using another program, do what Mr. Wells said.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the reply!

Thank you all for your reply...She's using Avid software in 24p and does have access to FCP. It happened for one scene, but am glad to hear that it's not a losss. Once again, thanks for the info. Time for some gaffer's tape on the dial!

Avid Xpress Pro HD 5.1 can capture 24p NORMAL and ADVANCED into a 23.976 project directly over FireWire and remove the reducant frame/fields as needed.

24p and 24p Advanced

24p and 24p Advanced

Based on these emails, I'm assuming I can shoot 24p Advanced (for a later transfer to 35mm), and use the same footage to output DVDs using FCP 4.5. Is this correct? Am I dreaming?

Jesse

So, in FCP 4.5, do I just import 24p Advanced clips into a 24p timeline, then export as 29.97 as thisiswells said above?
