Hey guys...I really don't know the difference between 24p and 24pa...which one is better and how does the look change between them? I am trying to get a contrasty look such as the Island (Bay films). would 24pa be better for this or no? If you guys don't want to answer because it's been answered already in a forum, please tell me that forum. thanks!

if youre editing in 24p, shoot 24pa.

if youre editing in 60i, shoot 24p normal.

The contrasty look is accomplished by adjust ing your camera scene file settings, or by adjusting the footage in post.

I'm confused by this also Tim,

could you elaborate a bit more? Thanks, Tim.

24pa uses a different pull down method to acheive 24 FPS than the standard 24p. 24pa is primarily designed for film outs or if you want to edit native 24 fps. The standard 24p is designed to work with all NLE's using basic DV template (60i/29.97 FPS) for editing. They look the same.

Oh, so they look the same? So it wouldn't matter that much right? Because, I have Vegas Moviestudio 4.0, and I can change the timeline to 24p, then I would have to shoot in 24pa right? I think i got it.

Slimothy, I wanted to know if 24pa made a difference in the look of the video.
