Ok so I know that a lot of questions have been asked and answered about 24p advanced but I think I have a unique one. Either, way, I can't find an answer and am hoping someone on this board can help.
I shot footage in 24p Advanced on a Panasonic DVX100a. Captured it with the 24p preset in Adobe Premiere CS4 (version 4.0).
Now when I manually remove 24p pulldown from the interpret footage box, I get horrible interlacing. From what I've read, removing the pulldown is suppose to give you the pure 24 progressive frames. But I am getting the opposite. I get interlacing, and I have to then go back and in the Field Options select De-interlace, which reduces the resolution.
This seems backwards from everything I've read elserwhere! Everyone says you'll have every 5th frame interlaced with 24p Advanced until you remove pulldown, in which you will then have beautiful 24 progressive frames. NOT the case for me. I remove pulldown and get interlacing throughout all of the footage. Only when I DON'T remove the pulldown do I have non-interlaced footage.
Does this make sense to anyone? Did I do something wrong? Should I have captured to the footage with something other than the 24p DV preset? Do I have the only backwards-working version of Premiere out there? So frustrating, but I want to understand... Thanks to whoever can help.
