24p -> 60i editing -> internet

Hello,

I recorded a music video in 24P, captured/edited in a 60i timeline and I want to output for web (QT / WMV).
What you guys do with the extra fields when exporting for web ? Convert to 24P (remove pulldown) ?

Extra question: when editing a 24P footage in a 60i timeline, some cuts happen from fields to fields, or I get 5 full frames in a row, I mean, the 2:3 pulldown gets broken... any problem ?

Thanks
Ulisses

If your main final target is 24fps it's best to remove pulldown before editing and then edit in a 24 (23.98) sequence. Now that it's been edited in a 60i timeline as you point out it's likely to have cadence problems.
You cna try running it through Cinema Tools but msot apps just check the first 5 -10 frames to determine the cadence for the clip (or in this case the sequence)
You may have to remove pulldown for each edited shot and it's possible start or end frames on some shots would 1/2 frames.

Note that while not ideal you could still use 60i for web. After all that's what most posted video is. This is specially true if you're shrinking the image 50% or more since the fields will be merged.

Ok, got it... I'm editing in a 60i timeline for 2 reasons:

1- my editing system (Leitch velocity) only works in 60i (I think it is a good reason :), but I could use Vegas...

2- The music video will be broadcasted in MTV, so betacam in 60i....

I understand the fields being merged, I also saw that WMV has a pulldown remove filter, but I think it will have problems with wrong cadence after edited.

Thanks Scott,
Ulisses
