Cudos to this forum. It has been of great help. I realize that i can search for my following answer but my query brings up way to many results. (yes i know how to use a search engine properly).

Can someone show me a link or just answer my question?

I'm wondering what is better 24ap or 24p? I normally shoot in 24ap but had recently heard of someone shooting in 24p and not to use 24ap. i'm familiar with the 2:3:3:2 pulldown thing but don't know why and when i wouldn't want to shoot in 24ap.

any helpful answers or links would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

Re: 24AP vs 24P

I have always understood that if you plan to uprez to film to use 24pa.

If not, use 24p.

Anyone?

Re: 24AP vs 24P

For progressive-scan DVD, use 24PA.

For VHS release, 24P may be an easier workflow.

For editing in a 60i timeline, use 24P.

It doesn't make a whole lot of difference either way though -- you can edit a pure 24P timeline from either 24PN or 24PA, and you can edit either in a 60i timeline too. 24PN is a little smoother in a 60i timeline, and 24PA is a little easier to extract the pure 24P stream into a 24P timeline, but you can still do it either way from either pulldown stream.
