23000 euro

Is it possible to buy a full functional HPX500 set up with this budget (I am not talking about the edditting setup). However now compromises on the lens quality. What do you suggest I should buy?

Depending on what you want to do with it, at 23.000 Euros (33.600 US Dollars) you should also consider maybe waiting some more and buying a RED One... (17.500$ for the body) Unless of course all you do is ENG-stuff...

(PS: Not trying to change your mind on the camera you decided to buy, just making sure you considered all the available options. Good luck shopping!)

UPDATE: I forgot this: HPX500 First Look The prices mentioned in there should give you an approximation on what you'll have to pay for a full setup.

For around that price you´ll get the 500 with 4 16GB P2s and the Fujinon lens (without extender...) - no batterys though, no tripod, no extras...
I think for a complete setup you will more likely need to spend around 27000...

Are you sure about that? As Doncamillo said, that's $33,600 U.S. dollars. How much is that lens?

But as I understand it the Fujinon lens is not on pair with the quality of the HPX500. It just the cheapest solution to get the HPX body to work.

Hm,
I´don´t have the 500, but from what I read here the Fujinon and the CAC seem to work pretty good...
But of course you can always add a 20000€ premium HD lens to your 13000€ cam:happy:

As for the price: 500 w/4 16GBs and Fuji was around 22K€ when I checked (Germany), add some decent sticks and head and a battery system of choice and you´ll hit the 27K mark soon...

With all due respect, I totally disagree with your assessment of the fuji lenses. I have both the 500 and Fuji lens and I would take it anywhere. The CAC technology and (IMO) above average glass, puts it on par with lenses that cost way more.

I believe that the 500 and Fuji lenses are a perfect match for most applications, especially ENG and doc stuff.

It is good to hear that you have good experiences with the fuji lens.
Doesn't the juji lens suffer from a lot of breathing at least that is what I hear on this forum? Does Fuji only has 1 lens for the HPX?.What is the exact type number of the Fuji lens you have and do you have an internet link (e.g. manufacturer site) where I can get more info aboutv that lens?

What about the Canon lenses?

I will concede that the breathing issue can be a frustration. But zoom lenses costing much, much more suffer the same ill effects. Unless you are willing to spend 3 to 4 times as much, you will have to work around the breathing.

As for the Canon glass, I have no experience with those.

I have both the Fujinon - XA17x7.6BRM and the Fujinon - XA17x7.6BERM.

We are also thinking to buy a HPX500 and we are going to do in the USA (we are from Spain). The cost is 33% less with the actual exchange rate between euro and dolar. The only point is the warranty. We wont have, but we will save as 3000 euros. In fact we are going to buy all our equiptment, with the pana monitor, mattebox, etc etc. We have been looking the duty for europe and we find that you will pay as maximum a 14% over the price in dollars. it is still a bargain.
