220v power for dvx100 ntsc

Hello,

I have a question regarding the ntsc version of the dvx100. I have read the threads that suggest it is fine to use the standard battery charger to charge batteries in countries that use the 220v instead of the 120v in the U.S. What I haven't seen is whether or not it is safe to use the standard battery charger and direct power connection cable to connect the dvx100 itself to a 220v outlet.

Thank you in advance for any one who can confirm that it is in fact ok to plug my dvx100 into a 220v outlet.

I did it in France. Just make sure you have the right adapters that plug into wall. Also be prepared to adjust the DVX shutter for certain lighting conditions or you will get a flicker.

Thanks for the reply Tom. I have the correct adapter, i.e. the piece that converts to the local plug configuration without doing any kind of power conversion, so no problem there. Are you suggesting that the shutter is somehow affected by this direct powering of the dvx with 220v power?

No awalr, The lighting system is different than the U.S. In most cases I didn't have a problem with the lights causing a flicker in the DVX. I did however have a problem when shooting in a kitchen at high-end restaurant. No matter how I adjusted the shutter the flicker remained. Its the 60hz vs 50hz /ntsc/pal thing.

Ok Tom, good to know. Perhaps a followup question, are the batteries used for pal dvx100's any different than those sold with with dvx100 ntsc. In other words are all these batteries interchangable.
