22 min Short.. Letus 35 BW

I love your shots, cinematography. great talent there.

...but the actors... puts me out of the movie.

nice job though, looks like a pretty big production.

naughtygeorge....

did you watch the whole movie?...that may answer your question.

I thought it gave the movie a bit of grit it needed, along with the grain of the 35mm adapter, I am very happy with the. The director/writer wanted it b/w from the time he wrote it. So as far as an in depth why, you would have to ask him.

Why do you question it? I would love to hear any critique you have.

Noone wants to watch it?? or at least comment? I am aware that some of the acting is a do over, but let me know what you think about everything else. Thanks

wow. thats all i have to say in summary. I will agree that the only flaw I could find was in the acting, but other than that--it was very good. Not your average, predictable script--very well done. Even despite the acting(although it wasn't too bad), I would definately say the cinematography and story made up for it. congratz on such a successful production!

Okay something constructive.

Good
Excellent script, you can tell. Well written.
Top notch cinematography and composition.
Good Sound.

Bad
As I said before I know a good script when I hear it, but the delivery i.e. the acting, was bad.
Also, I would loose some scenes or perhaps shorten them. i.e. the church scene.
We young film makers do this, we film many pregnant pauses, I know we want to get some realism in there, but pregnant pauses don't work if you don't understand the context of which you want to apply them. Dialogue should be fluid. Fearless(jeff bridges) the movie is a good example of silent moments done very well.

Now that my objective view is said, this is how I personally felt about the movie. I totally understand the emotions portrayed and carved out. At the risk of not getting too political, I'll keep it short. I felt near the end the 'revolution' is something we need in our so called democratic ' civilisations'. We're all asleep, we need to wake up.

the link isn't working for me but i did go to the site and watched the trailer. Most of it looked really good to me but there are some parts that had some major grain. but its cool though I think it added a kind of look to it.

hope the link gets back up, I want to check it out. :)

Is this a static adapter? In some shots I see some screen pattern....just interested in knowing.

Not that it has nothing to do with the plot and cinematography....had to pause the movie to ask the question.....

great music too........original?

Thanks for the feedback, it is much appreciated.

As for the adapter it was a Letus35, so it has a vibrating ground glass. I really like it, but would probably upgrade or rent a mini35 for the next shoot. Maybe a better ground glass would fix the grain in it, i dont know. Oh yeah and before that arabic part, i forgot to turn on the vibrating gg, so it was static then. Had to use it, but the grain is noticable.
The acting is an issue, but that is something that we learned through the process of this film. Casting is a really important thing that we sort of overlooked. That said, i thought a few of the actors had their moments but i can see how the overall impression of the movie would be...that you had some issues with the acting.

Oh and the music was all original. A friend named Jeremy Thomas scored the whole thing on Logic. Its crazy how real he can make the strings sound. We went to his studio (the director and i) and he would just play whatever as we watched scenes on a monitor. We would just shout out stuff we liked and he would record it. That was the coolest part, music really makes a difference.

Tried to right click and save to not kill your bandwidth, but it won't let me do that. Clicking the link without saving seems to work though (odd?).

Will watch once the whole thing is loaded.

yep...thats the part I was talkiing about...i think it is the walking scene after he leaves the garage were he had been taken for hostage. I noticed also in the fight scene that there was a spot in the lense?...kinda big spot. How old is this Letus? Is it one of the new ones with the newer screens, or one of the older models?

It would be interesting to see what scenes were shot first. I could tell that in the initial scenes , the acting was lukewarm (main actor)..by the end he kinda got on the groove...still it lacked some zest. The DJ father was great when speaking on "air", yet in the dialogue with his son...not too impressed....maybe tighter editing?

The ending was a complete mystery...was that the cast and crew celebrating the end of the final shot, or was that the start of the revolution?

I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but there is a LOT of blank footage after the end of the film. Then near the end, there is a small piece of music with no video (I assume this is what made the long footer). Anyway, just thought I'd point it out so you could trim it down (would make a faster download).

The cinematography was BEAUTIFUL!! I loved it! You wouldn't want to come up north and DP some projects for me would ya? Fantastic!!

I didn't understand why the kid joined so easily after the shooting....he didn't know who the guy was or why he shot, but joined right in. He didn't even seem to know what he was joining.

Thanks for sharing. Beautiful lighting and images!

Peace,
Larry
