F3: 2013 Narrative Reel (mostly F3)

Hi guys,

I've got a host of projects that I've been wanting to share for a while now, but can't until they're formally released, however I am able to share my reel of the past year's work, so here it is:

It's primarily SLOGged F3 footage, with a bit of Alexa and a couple of cheeky Blackmagic Camera shots in there as well - I'd love to hear your thoughts and see if anyone can pick what's what!

Awesome stuff.

What cam was the girl in the grey vest? Nice skin.

I think you need to find the red saturation button and turn it down, especially in a bar scene - over sat reds look a little cheap.

I know it is hard to trim.. but I think we could get down to 2:00 if not 1:45 as some stuff seems quite extensively revisited.

..and open with the shooting!

Music.. I think you stole it? There is also a pop at 20s

Cheers Sam,

Girl in the grey is F3, with no filtration and probably the gentlest grade of all the shots in there.

I quite like the golden tones of the bar stuff, that's how I shot it - balanced for 5600k but shot with tungsten bounced off gold reflectors.

The music I borrowed from the late, great Johnny Cash, but I'm not hearing the pop at 20 seconds that you mention.

Grey girl. Gives me hope with my f3 :)

I particularly meant the night time bar.

Cash. It is an awesome track. Maybe a little too big. I'm just not sure that "borrowing" copyright works sends the right message. Can I "borrow" some of you shots for my reel? :) Im not sure the current thought process on borrowed music. I think it might send an odd message to potential clients - maybe no one cares!

Nice! But I'd seriously consider making it 2min. at most. I never watch a reel more than that, and usually up to 1.5 and I have hired several DPs for projects. I dont think i'm alone there. Big movie trailers are usually 2min. for a reason.
