One of the biggest perks that I believe we have as filmmakers is to travel around the world and get to meet a lot people. For the past few years I've been fortunate to work on a ton of projects. I hope you guys enjoy my years of hard work and dedication.

Your comments and thoughts are really important. So, please don't hesitate to share your feedback.

Yes, the travel is amazing. Because I have been doing travel pilots for cable network my travel has been confined mostly to the the 48 Continental United States but the ability to travel is something that can make a filmmkaing career. Your reel looks great. Travelers always get the best train shots.

I couldn't agree more and thank you very much for your feedback. You definitely travel a lot more than I do, which makes me envious.

I think your reel shows great promise for doing documentary work - which requires an eye for artistic shots. I'd like to see some of your more gritty footage though. And please, don't be envious, as you know travel presents it's own set of challenges that can greatly affect the way one views the world and creates it's own hardships. We only get paid when we are working. Traveling removes that safety net of in between projects where you have a home to live in. There can be some pretty serious financial hardships if you are not able to monetize your travels in some manner. Even when you do you have to remember that you are going to pay $220 - $300 a week for lodgings with no kitchen, requiring $10- $20 a day in restaurant expenses. A month where you travel to 4 cities for a week each is going to cost $1,500 at least not including the city to city travel, vehicle expenses, smokes, weed, and money to get out of the room every once in a while. As far as you wanting to travel more, just do it. You'll find a way to subsist. We always do.

You have some very nice shots in there, especially the pieces with the cars. As mentioned above, this reel shows a lot of promise in the documentary/commercial world. And if that's what you want, then you're in good shape. However if you want to work in the narrative world, you have some work to do. There are very few narrative clips in the reel, and those that are in there are inferior in quality compared to the rest of the work. But it's perfectly good to start out in Doc's as a DP, many of those most famous DP's in the world spent upwards of 10 years in the documentary world at the start of their career.

The only other complain I have is that the end of the reel is a bit anticlimactic. Also, there is no such thing as a "Cinematographer/Editor" Reel, because that's not a job that exists in the industry. Focus on one discipline, don't try to spread yourself too thin.

thank you very much feedback. It all makes a lot of sense. I really like what you said about the narrative part because it was shot and lot 3-5 years ago during my learning process so I agree that it sure feels inferior compare to my new work. I used the work cinematographer-editor reel because all the shots used in this piece are lit by me. How else would you go about this type of thing where you're truly a preditor and want to sell yourself as one without spreading yourself thin?

A "real" Cinematographer, or someone who gets to use the words A.S.C after their name (American Society of Cinematographers) is usually credited as 'Director of Photography.' I wouldn't claim editing as a specialty unless you really know what you are doing editing-wise. Also, I really enjoyed the drafting shots as well. The city time lapses are what caught my eye though.
