2012 personal and career goals

Personal: Find my first feature narrative film. I turned down three feature films this year. Waiting for the one that is right for me... sometimes I feel I might be making a mistake, but then again...

Now I'm not Vittorio Storaro... but he said something later, after Gordon Willis:

(After turning down the film) "And this was wonderful, and I was Vittorio Storaro then, on my first film"

I want to be Ryan O'Hara on my first film. And I don't mean that in a cocky douche way. Thus far, the offers I have received have not allowed me to do the job to the ability I would be at least somewhat satisfied with (since I'm never really satisfied with my work.) So I turned them down. I'm waiting for the right film. So my goal in 2012 is the same as 2011... but I'm waiting for a film where I feel I'll be able to do my job. Then I'll put my name on it. That may sound picky, but let me buy you a beer and tell you what I was being offered to work with, in terms of equipment, crew and time. I'll give you a hint... none of each.

Personal: Get laid more. :)
Oh! ......agus críochnaigh ag foghlaim Gaeilge. (and finish learning Irish!)

I think turning down those features was a good move.

I approve the person goal as well... although after having just seen the film "Shame" (recommended) I might go celibate.

Career: Start a small online business that provides passive income. Finish writing two feature scripts; fund and begin producing one of them.

Personal: Take more risks. Become less materialistic. Live with integrity at all times.

really inspiring thread!

Career: work less at the 9 to 5

Personal: more time working on videos! Finish projects, impress dvxuser (not easy!), find a niche, maybe get another festival credit (this time local so i can actually go!) Some other stuff too.

Write Scripts Galore! Have to finish one I was hired to write thats going gangbustero!#@
Finish my main project Jan 2012.
I think I just want to get paid to write this year and avoid directing for $$ till next year.
Of course I'll still direct for fun stuff and small music videos where the artists want to do cool stuff!

What if the world ends in 2012 tho? DAG

Career: Continue my path into TV news. (coming from a commercial background) But keep shooting and editing the occasional funny/narrative spots to keep my sanity. And NO MORE weddings as long as I can support myself otherwise. Someone mentioned selling their old gear and buying new….yeah, I have a few things to unload.

Personal: Spending time with my family amidst a crazy workweek.
AND getting a first gig for our new band…..we are just about ready to hit the stage.

Career:

Find some more work in a new city, so I can travel less. Shoot a 2nd feature, this time with the proper amount of resources! Raise some money and shoot a short out in west Texas!

Personal:

Be more awesome, and be a good Dad.

Like Zaza I have one personal & career goal: Win the Mega Lotto, become rich and idle... oh, and world peace, stop hunger.

Professional: Write the many scripts that have been rattling around my head for the past 10 years. Build my portfolio to the point where I am finally happy with it. Produce at least one Indie film that I am happy with. ( can't afford a feature )

Hardware: Build a shoulder rig that I am happy with. ( smooth movement, flexible for different camera types, properly balanced so virtually no weight on my arms so I can shoot all day )

Personal: Be more productive with my down time. ( I tend to veg a bit when I'm not working ) Start every morning at the gym. ( I feel like Godzilla ready to say hello to Tokyo, after a quick morning workout )

Professional: double my gross receipts from last year, add another employee. Build kick ass pc for my main edit system and leave the Mac for email and web surfing.

Personal: Do more freebie/indie projects with my new Scarlet.
