2011 Hunting/Fishing Visual Reel

WARNING: CONTAINS GRAPHIC HUNTING FOOTAGE

A selection of highlights from my hunting/fishing/nature work over the past year. Turkey hunting from PA & TN, fly fishing in PA, antelope in NM, whitetail in GA, CO, & OH. Mainly on an HMC-150 mixed in with some xha1, 7d, & GoPro.

Music: Time (from the Inception Soundtrack)

Couldn't even concentrate on the camera/film aspects, horribly sad video. I know this is a camera board and all, but that is wrong, just wrong.

Let's keep the opinions of hunting, and how wrong and sad one thinks hunting is out of this. Forum rules and all.

I don't think the music fit, and probably contributed to the shots of the kills seeming more dramatic than what they are. I think the footage itself was pretty good. I would have left the footage of the kill shots out... I hunt and my family raised our own livestock as a little kid, so it doesn't bother me. But not everyone is accustomed to seeing that sort of thing... so unless you are showing this to individuals used to it, it can really easily turn people off or offend them..

This Reel has some real artistic shots in it. I live in the the heartland where the the Machine hasn't devoured all of nature and taught our children our food is Made at Walmart. Why is the HMC150 forum so critcal? The people in the other cam forums are way more encouraging then we are.

Honest criticism is every bit as important as encouragement. People don't grow with only encouragement. I totally agree... and said... that the footage is pretty good. However, the nature of it... killing things... is going to be inherently offensive to those who really don't appreciate where their food comes from.

Nice. I'm astounded that you took the time to capture such beautiful footage while hunting. I haven't been hunting in a long time but I remember that it took a lot of clear thinking and patience to actually get a good shot at the game. And I remember that we were always hung over in the morning, making it a double duty. Don't let people bother you about kill footage. If they want to really see something outrageous, they should visit a modern chicken or beef slaughterhouse. Anyway, good footage, but I agree that the music only fits a portion of the footage.

I think its good footage myself. I've sent you a PM Jonathan, just in case you didn't notice in the top right corner.
