2009 Cinematography Reel

Daniel,

Really impressive stuff here. You have a real eye for for the camera. (I was inches away from writing "you have a reel eye for the camera" but immediately realized what a douche that would make me).

In those first two shots, the one with the kid on the bike and the kid and adult in the field; did you have a jib for that? How did you get those beautiful smooth camera movements?

Crimson,

Thank you very much for your compliments.

The two shots in the beginning were used with my jib, yes. We had a jib strapped into the back of a truck, and we did a jib-trucking shot as we rode down the road. It was obviously a little bumpy, but smoothcam helped refine it to be the beauty it is now.

Same with the other one, we used a dolly propped in the grass and had a jib on top of the dolly, basically a makeshift crane. It had bumps as well, but smoothcam works miracles.

They were both shot on an Arri-SR3 film camera. We used a Proam Jib, drilling a new hole in for the baseplate. It was a bit ghetto, but it worked out fine. It's really about the ends, not the means in crafting the image, in my opinion.

Thanks again for watching, I am glad you enjoyed it!

Dan
