2008 Demo Reel

Nice work!

Your outdoor stuff looks great! Especially the time lapse stuff,.. it's very cool.

Most of the shots in the section from the dilapidated building to the projected images on the walls don't come across as you best work. Don't get me wrong, there are a few keepers in there, but a lot of the lighting looks fuzzy, un-natural and tungsteny in just that section.

Also your reel is a tad bit long, so I think you should cut most of those shots in the section I mentioned.

Your music, editing is very good, it flows well, but too long.

All the indoor shots at the end, like the old man in the green room I love. Your reel is impressive, I think if you trimmed out some of the fat it'd be solid!

All in all great stuff man!

Greg, Thanks for the advice! I see what you mean about the lighting in those shots looking unnatural. I put a maximum warmth filter on the ones in the house with the big windows and I think that it competes with the outside lighting which is cooler. Maybe I will just cut them as yea it should move quicker.

I just checked out your demo reel and its very impressive, your lighting style is great! I especially liked the night-time footage of the soldiers.

It looked pretty good to me. I agree that it should be a bit shorter. Also, I might be crazy, but the shot where the man is touching the woman's face looks squished.

looks great man! The desert stuff really reminded me of there will be blood. but that might just be because I just finished watching it. Either way great work.

Great stuff man. High production value, my favorite shots are the silhouetted people and the cowboys. I also really liked the guy waking up and looking at the alarm clock, the green hue to it was very nice.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

No your not crazy It was a 1080i shot and there were some issues bringing it into the sequence so I adjusted the aspect ratio manually and made it real short. I was in kind of a rush to get it done so I didn't fix it properly

I just watched it again. That shot where the guy is running in the desert is gold!

That desert shot was a on the fly moment. We were shooting a scene and this huge dust-storm blew in so I grabbed the camera off the tripod and just started chasing the main actor.
