2008-2009 NFL Thread

So the season starts tonight, who do you guys like in the Redskins Vs Giants? I think I may put a little money on the game tonight and put it on the Redskins. The one thing that kep the Giants alive and in games ast year was their defence and it has been decimated with the retirement of Strahan, Umenyiora's injury and Mithchel. They'll be a different team this year.

Alright opening day. Love waking up and having a beer in the morning. **** football is on early here.

Go Pats!!!

Been a Charger fan from day 1. My bolts will take care of business this year and enact a precise attack on the entire NFL. Lights out, game over, give us the Lombardi now and take a knee.

Surprisingly Cleveland fans were in the same boat as me, hoping for playoff appearance, but lately everyone has been hyping up this years BROWNS for big things. Now the media has been comparing them to the '81 'Kardiac Kids' Browns team, who fell short of great expectations given by fans.

This is going to be a coin-toss for the '08 brownies.

I'm so angry right now. FOX in their infinite wisdom is playing the Cleveland game in Los Angeles instead of the San Diego game. I've never hated a network as much as I do right now. Mind you, this town is full of Charger fans. So they play a game that's 2 thousand miles away instead of right down the road. Unbelievable.

Are you enjoying watching Dallas kick Cleveland's ass? I'm not...:(

the falcons looked surprisingly good today. matt ryan is a big improvement over joey harrington, that's for sure.

If they lose him for the duration they will be in hot water. Most likely they won't be able to make it to the Bowl, although that didn't work out so well for them last time anyway.

I don't know. I heard some people say the same thing about the Red Sox when we traded Manny... :)

Man, as a die hard Pats fan, what a shitty thing to watch on Sunday. I've waited 7 months from the Super Bowl and to have this happen just plain sucks. As unfortunate as it is, injuries are part of the game and every team deals with them, I know the NFL ruled it a clean hit and they have done a better job in the past of protecting quarterbacks but going after a quarterbacks knees like is something the NFL should really take a look at. This is also a big blow for the NFL, they lose the best quarterback in the league who's coming off an MVP season with 50 TD passes.

I don't expect the Pats to roll over and tank the season, there is too much talent on this team and they are too well coached to let that happen, that being said Matt Cassel isn't Tom Brady and I expect there to be a lot of adjustments towards the game plans, more running the ball and a lot of short passes. The main thing I'm concerned off now is that Brady has a successful surgery and rehab. Seeing star players go down like that just sucks, I don't want to see that happen to any team or player.

I still think they take the division. This week against the Jets should a good indication of things to come.

My Broncos came out well.... but against a Junior College team (the Raiders lol)

Yeah, you guys looked pretty good on Monday. Yeah, the Raiders suck, their one team I don't mind seeing suck year after year.

Anyone hear about Vince Young? Seems he wants to quit football, apparently Jeff Fisher had to push him to go back into the game on Sunday and then later in the night they called the Police to locate him cos they were worried about his mental state. Hopefully things work out for the guy.

Merriman is done for the season, needs season ending knee surgery. That's going to be a blow to the Chargers Defence.

So I got to personally witness the Browns loss to Pittsburgh... Browns played well but made the worst decisions... A field goal?!! In the fourth!? We were down by 7 and only 14 or so yards out from the endzone. FFS!!!
