2007 Reel

Charlie Anderson

Not so clever
Compilation of a lot of our best work over the past year. It needs some work but there's times where I can't quite see what's wrong with it so I'll invite suggestions and criticisms for it.

Yes yes I know I normally say "never EVER use copyrighted music for a reel" but I really like this song ha!

Tear it to pieces, I don't mind the criticism at all.

Hey Charlie,
Looks pretty good! I love muse too :) I have though heard it on many many reels, but if it works it works.

I'm going to take your lead and tear it apart, because I think we both know most of it works. :D

Anyway, you got some cool stuff. My biggest comment is everything looks washed out. I don't know if it's web compression, or a color correction style. Everything just seems to look muddy or milky, like it came off a VHS.

You got some cool lighting, some interesting shots and they all speak for them selves, I'd take out the text of music videos, commercials, short films, etc,... that should be expected of any DP / Filmmaker. You don't need to ala cart your services. If you get a job off of your reel it'll be because the client will want what they see for their project, not because you say you can and have done it.

Some of the lens adapter footage looks like it was shot on a lens adapter,.. in a bad way. Other stuff looks great. I'd go through and take a look at it again and really scrutinize those shots.

I think your pacing is great, reel didn't drag very much and you definitely seem more than competent.

Good luck!

nice work. I really like the shots of the guys in military gear at the beginning. The color of those shots were really nice. How did you get that look?

Thanks for the comments, will take that back with me to modify it once I get the new logo developed.

The military scenes were color corrected with overlapping 3 of the 3 color correction wheels in FCP6
