2006 reel, suggestions/comments welcome

I just finished my reel, hopefully this will help get me some more gigs.

I've only had 3 paying gigs so far, so that's all I put on my reel.

luckily they were all different types of jobs! :)

Let me know what you think I should change...I feel like it's kinda short (just under a minute) But I honestly wanted to keep it pretty short and sweet so as not to be boring.

great reel. short and sweet. you even managed to make a wedding video not cheesy! and the special event work was also done really well. Is this a reel for DP or director work? or just general videography? either way it's great.

Hey thanks so much
to answer your question- It's a reel for anything! It sums up my life's work so far, so what you see is what you get, I did everything. Directing, DP'ing, Editing, Producing, Shooting, etc...

I think that's the case for a lot of Dv filmmakers these days...it's pretty much a one-man show for a lot of guys. Hopefully as my gigs become more plentiful, the jobs will be more specialized so I don't have to do everything!

did you use the dvx for all of that? what equipment/accessories did you use? looked very good!

why thanks!

yes, it is all DVX my good man.

For the music video i used a letus35 adapter, and I messed around with the footage quite a bit in post.

Everything else is straight outta the camera, I didn't even CC the wedding stuff.

Very rarely can a demo reel be interesting, but yours was beautiful. This is how demo reels should be done! The fact that it was short kept it tight and interesting. The wedding shots were very creative, and like Mark Cheng said, you made the wedding "not cheesy." I would like to know what equipment you used since I am currently shopping for a new camera, and yes, it will be a DVX series camera.

Cheers

thanks so much!

I have the DVX 100 "A" series. I edit with Vegas, and the only other things I have are a Bogen tripod w/503 head, a Audio Technica shotgun mic, and a reflector.

For the music video I had a Letus35 adapter on, so that's why they might look a little different.
:)

Tjohara99,
That was simply awesome! I wouldn't change a thing. The music was perfect for this kind of thing - really upbeat and uplifting.
I really like your contrast. The stark contrast I do not see.

haha, the stark contrast!

I made sure there wasn't any of that. But in my earlier stuff I'd say there was a little here and there.

I wonder if anyone knows what song I used...here's a hint- it's a Christian artist.

ace, good stuff and the bride is hot!
