$20 Monopod Stabilizer

I see lots of expensive crazy stabilizers for DSLR's but people seem to neglect the simple yet elegant monopod. I use a $20 Opteka monopod from Amazon.com that can carry about 10 pounds of weight and can even work as a simple steadicam for moving shots. The monopod is worth its weight in gold & is both durable and portable . Plus I can film much longer since the monopod rests the camera on the ground and I dont have to lift anything. Any other monopod users here?

How about this combo. used it for years as you can tell from the condition.

I have a monopod in every one of my camera bags. The bonus here for the panny series cameras is that you really get a 3 in 1 punch. First, it can be a monopod, secondly it can be a substitution for a biddlestick to screw into the top of the cam for super easy low mode without the need to flip the footage, third is just as you said; a poor (by comparison, but still somewhat effective) substitute for a steadicam.

Every camera also had a tripod as pert of the kit but you cant always carry that much stuff, man there is no substitute for having one of these right in/on the bag itself.

that is pretty awesome! what is that shoulder mount?

I got the Bogan Monopod at B&H a few years ago. I also got the the shoulder mount at B&H for about $45 bucks, but can't remember if it was a Bogan. It would be easy to make one with a strip of aluminum, a bench vice and s drill. Maybe a 3/8 and 1/4 inch tap if you want to go all the way. I actually bent the rig when I got it because the front corner was a right angle and the camera was too close to my face. It's does work great with any camera on it.

I was looking at this one: Giottos MM 9160

Looks affordable and sturdy

and maybe pair it with the Bogen 701hdv for a really light setup
