2-way shootout: how to?

I'm going to rent a jvc for a weekend, and compare it to the DVX 100a that I own.

I figure I'll try to film the same stuff I typically use the dvx for... plus point them at rez charts and stuff. Then I'll try to transfer to my pc, edit and burn it to dvd to see how well my system handles it.

I'm also doing a event that weekend, I'm thinking of bring the jvc to that to give it a 'real world' work out.

I know people luuuv these shoot-outs, any tips on how to comprehensively test both cameras? What do you include when you do these shoot-outs?

I'm obsessing over the camera, I'm just trying to decide how much it will help me. I figure this gives me some sort of objective measurement.

I'll be real curious as to how it works out. I too have a dvx100a and am moving to hd (either jvc or hvx) I"m not sure how much rez charts could mean if you can look at the real life footage side by side. if you make any extra copies of your dvd's I'd be happy to buy them. I don't blame you for obsessing over the camera, there are no shortage of reviewers that love it. good luck

Yeah, I'm guessing the event footage will be the best test.

Part of the test is to see how well it works with my existing equipment.... so I'm trying to gauge the total investment required.

I'll definitely post some results (though I doubt my shoot-out is any better than than what the Gods of DVXUser have done!)

Certainly the dvd of the event will be for sale.
