2-slot continuous recording

I've quite a basic question. How can I combine spanned clips. If I save both P2 cards and view them as virtual P2 cards using the P2 Viewer I'm only able to play the part from the 1st P2. The part of the clip on the 2nd P2 is there but cannot be selected (Start TC unknown). The same thing happens when I import the P2's into EDIUS Broadcast.

From a workflow point of view is it better to avoid continuous recording and use one card after the other? I use a laptop to save the P2 cards and once a day I am going to burn a DVD-R for each P2 card.

Hey JJB,

there is no reason to avoid continious recording, thats one of the best features and i have done on 3 or 4 p2 cards continously without problems!

I dont know about the P2 viewer (as i cant us it at the moment with the cineform trial..strange, but doesnt work anymore stand alone..), vut with edius you are definitly wrong: it works flawless, its just important that you select THE LAST part of a spanned clip, and drag this one to the timeline.

This puts automaticly the WHOLE clip to it!(or you double clip the last os the spanned clips and pre-edit it in the player movie in putting ins and outs.
I didnt see this in the beginning, but there are small icons in spanned clips in EDIUS: normal clips got a movie Icon, spanned clips got different ones.(dont know how to describe, you will see the difference once importet via p2 select.

Let me know if it doesnt work, but i think it will perfectly!

Hi hvx_germanboy

Now that this nerve-wracking football game is over I'm back to business again (did you watch the game?).

Thanks for your feedback. Coincidentally I hadn't any spanned clips yet. I now have some test footage of a stop watch spanning 2 4GB P2's. Each P2 is in a separate folder. In EDIUS Select P2 Clip I only see one folder at a time. I then can select the first or the 2nd part of the clip but not both. Lets assume that I select the 2nd part and import it to bin - 1 clip was registered. If I now select the first part and do the same I get the message 0 clip registered.

I'm quite frustrated and I really appreciate your support in this matter.

Yeah, i saw the match..think you can really look forward to the european championship in 2 years in your country..well see what happens now to them!

Back 2 topic: that sounds really crazy, i just had this problem when i tried to import HD pal footage that is not supported by edius yet.mmmm-make sure you import the the first card (i always import "virtual cards" i copy before to HDD) through p2 select, select the clips, press ok, then open the p2 tool again and import the second card..should import ALL clips, and then you have the choice of 2 "similar" clips (from what the thumbnail shows" and you choose the 2nd one.

That works perfectly to me, maybe we are missing something here, if it doesnt work, try to ask someone like "bhiga"!

good luck!
