1. Will there be a paid upgrade to make the HD100 into the HD200?
Wedding guys like me need that 60P for slowmo reasons.

2.Friends of mine are recording uncompressed 100mbps video with the HVX200 direct into a laptop with Final Cut Pro via the firewire port.

This is totaly cool...

While your modify the HD100 could you add that ability of uncompressed video transfer via firewire?

Thank You...

The video signal over firewire from the HVX200 is not compressed.

It is as you stated 100mbs. That is a signal that is compressed around 7 to 1.

The advantage of DVCPro HD is that it is an 4:2:2 signal and uses intraframe compression, not interframe compression like HDV.

The HD100 outputs an uncompressed signal via the analog HD component ports.

I think that the HVX does the same thing via analog HD component.

No camera can output uncompressed HD via firewire.

Yes.. Yes.. thank you for spelling that out weberda. I will make myslef more clear next time.

It would be nice if the HD100 had the option of sending a non GOP compression similar to the HVX200 4:2:2 signal intraframe.

and it would also be nice to support (like the great job they have been doing so far) the pioneer users who invested into JVC new HDV technology from beginning by offering not a free but paid upgrade to some of the new features of HD200.

I don't want to go through the hassel of trying to unload my HD100 and buying a new cam just for 60P but I really need that feature.

Sorry, I'm pretty sure an "upgrade" would be out of the question. Unless they do a temporary DVX-like upgrade for recent buyers, I'm pretty sure that the 200 and 250 are considered as new cameras.

When I saw the presentation at NAB, it was implied that the HD200 was the middle-man between the HD100 and the HD250 as one ProHDV line. So, if you need 60P, you'll most likely have to sell your HD100 and put the money towards an HD200 or HD250. :(

I hope not...

I would guess (I know I know don't guess) that the 60P function is mostly software. RED has it right when they say that cameras should be built modular.

It would be nice to hook the cam upto firewire and perform firmware upgrade or even better open it up pop a firmware chip or board out and order the upgrade chip and pop it in.

La la la la la.....dreaming right....

Well you never know Jvc seems to be changing they cam through with the version A upgrade.

JVC has already posted on dvinfo regarding this question.

The HD100 is not capable of upgrading to HD200/250 features, 60P ect...
