2 questions about DVX100A

1. Does it matter in which order the UV and Pol. lens filters are put on?

2. I set the AWB switch to 'Prst' and I know when you push the AWB button in front it is suppose to change from 3.5k to 5.6k (or whatever the numbers are). When I push the button i see no change at all in the look and NOTHING shows up on the LCD.. All it says is 'AWB' in the middle of the screen for 3-5 seconds and then shows 'AWB' on the right side of the LCD... is this normal or should it actually say weather it's on the 3.5k or 5.6k ...

I did searches for this but found nothing so I'm sorry if it's a duplicate question.. Thanks for the help

Not positive about #1, but my guess would be no. If I had to pick I'd say put the pol on first, the the UV on the outside. Maybe someone can verify this.

For #2, there should be a readout on the right side of your screen that shows 3.2 or 5.6. When you push the WB button, it will pop the WB display in the center. While it is still on the center of the screen, hit the button again and it will change to the other preset. You should also see the value to the right change on the screen too.

If you do not see the value on the screen, go to one of the display menus and make sure all of OSD info is turned on. Although, if you know your light and you are using the presets....the color of the LCD should really tell you where you are set at. I.E. - if you are outside and your screen is has a blue tint....your prob set to 3.2 - or if you are inside and your screen is all orange...your prob set to 5.6.

For the second issue - you are probably holding the button too long - holding the AWB down solidly for a 3-4 seconds sets the black balance (the display goes black)
What mode are you shooting in?

I recommend checking the manual out for a better explanation perhaps :)

For question one
I would put the UV on first then the polarizer. My reasons being

A. More then likely you will not be using the polarizer all the time so putting it on the outside is easier to take off
B. Putting the polarizer on the outside makes it easier to rotate.

Ah, I know what is going on. Go to your menu and choose SW Mode. Then change ATW to OFF. My guess is you are set to PRE. That should fix it.

Once you change this, with the white balance switch set to PRST, pressing the AWB button will cause it to say either AWB P3.2K or AWB 5.6K to tell what the current setting is. Pressing it again while the current setting is displayed will make it change to the other option. As I alluded to above, it will also list it on the right of the display when the Display Setup/Other Display option in the menu is set to partial or all.

With the White Balance switch set to either A or B setting, holding the button for about a second, maybe less, will tell the camera to white balance to the light is is seeing. Holding down for a few second will cause it to ABB as MasterP said.

Thanks DivotDan.. That's what it was, the ATW was set to pre and I changed it to off and now it shows 3.2 and 5.6... Yeah I got the A and B WB figured out and i've been using a bunch of different colors to get a few different looks but I didnt know what was going on with the PRST
