Both videos were shot with HVX+M2. I had only couple of days for setting up M2 adapter, so thats why picture is not sharp all through, but i still havent got it(im sick of unscrewing GG and putting it back again and so on). While filming, we had pro DP, DP assistent, make up artist and gaffer. I was directing and later on editing.

In metal video we used Tamron's 14mm and Canon's 50mm lenses. Suprisengly the room was tiny and luckily 14mm lens saved us. During film session we had tons of problems. First, we discovered that the room is way too small. Then, the owner of place told us that we have to be done by 18.00 a clock. We didn't have time for about 1/3 of scenes. Because of that, i had to shoot kitchen scenes at home and those dark scenes in random place. The worst thing was that I didn't have light and DP anymore. I had to do all by myself. I lit the room with those halogen lamps, which everyone could get from Wal-Mart. During shooting, the adapter run out of battery and i didnt have extra one. My wrenches were at home also, so I had to go home and grab them. I learned a lot from this project.

In Agent M video we used Canons 20mm and 50mm lenses. We shot it two days after filming the previous project. That was actually worst thing. I didn't have time to analize my mistakes and storyline wasn't complete either. Agent M video was much harder to shoot. We had to move from one room to another with no lunch pause. We were filming for about 14hrs and by the end of day everyone was so tired that we didnt even care about it anymore. Thats actually why that last killing scene is so cheesy.

While editing I discovered again that I suck in color correction. Next time if budget allows I'll hire someone else to do that. I edited it on PC, so Mac users might see video washed out and lacking of contrast. I don't know how to color correct so, that it looks good on both, PC and Mac?

Anyway, im not very satisfyed with results, but im happy that i had chance to do that. Now im much smarter, at least i think so. Although Im happy with camera and adapter, the picture came out better than i expected.

Please let me know what you think of them.

thanks,

A.

I actually enjoyed them;o)
.ee stands for estland, right?
Some of the dark scenes in the metal vid were too noisy, but you already mentioned the circumstances...
Otherwise the lighting, shooting and editing all had a "pro" look, the thing disturbing me the most were both bands, the performance was mediocre, the songs too (IMHO)
So is this for MTV Estland? Are the bands "newcomers"? Do you often do music vids?
How did you get the gigs? How big was your light package?
I guess I´m more interessted in the business part these days hehehe...
Good job!

I enjoyed both. I like the Agent M one better though, but 2 quality songs i think is what made them even better. Both videos looked 100% pro IMO. Great job on that. Though the Finish Me Off one didnt make sense to me too much, and im not really a fan of videos that are 80% shots of the band performing somewhere, i like a little bit of story and Eric Roberts should be in all videos, but ill stop babbling.

I think you should be happy with the work to atleast some degree. I know its hard to like what we create ourselves, i always nit pick my own work, but its good stuff. Nice job! the hard work and long days wasnt in vien.

I only saw the Agent m vid. But I liked what I saw. I guess am more interested in more of the technical aspects of the shoot. Since I am just starting out.

yes, .ee stands for Estland or Estonia.

Since last September all Baltic States got their own MTV. But it's basically same channel for every country, just some shows are in native language.

Bands are kind of newcomers, nobody knows them, but everybody starts likeing them, soon they might be quite famous in our country, maybe not...

I used to film only extreme sports, i still do that, but much less. I dont like spending a year or two, for one project. Then everybody watches it and see "yeah, cool etc." and thats it. This year i started with music videos, coz one project takes about one month to do and then i can forget it, also each time I work with new people. And if there is a party, then I always get VIP pass, coz you get to know many people doing that....

I got these gigs just by offereing. Our market is tiny and you cannot be selective. So basically I would do a video for a band whos music I dont like, i just need apportunaties for gaining some expereince.

Our light package was quite big, we had fully loaded van, but we never used all of the lights. Luckily light rentals are really cheap over here.

thanks again

Technically very nice. Bands were very run of the mill and being a part time musician.. I know run of the mill and that's what I am musically.

Good job on the work and i'm sure you'll get a lot more of them.

I don't know if i would call them run of the mill. I can't really judge musical styles I'm not that interested in. But if run of the mill means you are making videos like these, let's see those jems you're hiding Justyn (i'm teasing

Technically.. the vids were good. I said that. The music is just kind of there though. That's all. I haven't made any music videos but I'd shot quite a lot of concerts of national acts past and present. I'd be happy to do one eventually though but things haven't worked out with a few of them so far.

i actually meant a video of your' band, or the solo act you've been hiding. I didn't mean videos you've shot. I just figured if you knew what a run of the mill band was, from personal experience as you say, then you probably have had at least one video done. It was meant in good fun though.

Nice job, Belmont. "Queen of the World" reminds me of what MTV used to be here in the states. Now its so clubby, it makes me sick.
