Trailer is harder to make than the damn film!

I think I'm almost there, any ideas would be appreciated to get me across the line.

I know audio needs work but any thoughts are still welcome (We do audio last).

Plan is to use the trailer to sell to TV stations.

Thoughts/comments/compliments/concerns/suggestions?

Hey Wilbur,

Just my thoughts:

8 second company logo = goes away.
Quotes from Kids = Not too interesting
Pacing = slow at the beginning, I'd chop as much of that out as possible.
I'd flop all of the interesting stuff to the beginning, then circle back to the gyst. Maybe even intercut the less energetic material with the high strung footage.

Just my thoughts, from having cut my own feature trailer recently and knowing what a beast of a task that is.

Thanks, some great thoughts there, I'll fiddle some more and see what boils to the top.

Just curious: in the quotes, is "rediculous" intentionally misspelled? Some 20-somethings (like you're referencing) might do that of course, but I think I'd correct it anyway...

Otherwise I pretty much agree with Kholi's take on the trailer.

Thanks Ted (and thanks again Kholi).

Yeah, I wanted it to feel like the quotes were from 14 year old WoW players (our target market).

Tough thing here is that the trailer is so serious whereas the actual movie has a somewhat self obsessed lead character (the documentary presenter) which makes it border on an action comedy.

The marketing/poster design is driving for the eighties 'B Film' effect - I don't want buyers watching it expecting a serious action movie, it is a slightly goofy Scifi action flick aimed squarely at early teens.

The challenge:
Our lead cranks up the 'cheese' factor considerably but when we try to translate that to the trailer, it keeps looking like weak acting. Long form, that style of found footage 'oh my gosh' macho acting works well in context - short glimpses not so much, actually a bit irritating out of context!

I originally thought of mixing up the slow paced stuff with the fast paced stuff but figured that it might not make sense in the hard drive/card age of digital film making. In retrospect, that has to be the dumbest thought I have had for 2010.
Definitely gonna try Kholi's suggestion.

Any other thoughts are welcome folks.

Let me know what you like about it too so that I can keep what specifically works.
