2 days HVX200 + steadicam rental

Hello there,

I've rented a HVX-200 incl. 2x4gb P2 cards, plus a Varizoom steadicam for 2 days. This was just two days of testing, since our normal camera (huge JVC shoulder broadcast cam) is in reparation, and we might buy the hvx200.

The camera is absolutely great, we only had difficulties getting the HD files to work on PC. We use Avid Liquid, which cannot import them.

Only thing we missed was a M2 adapter. Since we can't rent it anywhere here we just tested the camera first, and hopefully I can get my hands on a M2 adapter in the near future.

So, we did run some tests in premiere pro with the mainconcept plugin which worked. At the moment I'm not in the office, so I can't show any fancy HD stuff, but I do like to share some low quality movies. We shot mostly in 720PN, 50i, and dubbed it to a minidv tape.

I might get some better quality later on.

NOTE: All clips are unedited..

Really enjoyed watching those clips - do post some higher quality ones though (also the clips are anamorphic 4:3, not 16:9... minor quibble).

Sucks to hear you can't hire an M2. Where abouts are you? We're in Sydney, Australia and we bought one before finding out there are a few places here that rent them but don't advertise the fact very well... :-)

Yeah we had to test the camera for the first time, and the only thing we could do was buy the adapter.. but we wanted to test the hvx first. I really like it, so i might buy the M2 :) Too bad I can't rent it first.

I live in The Netherlands btw..

You just bought it before testing it out? And do you like it? (prolly you do...) :)

We had no problem with the navigator at all... We did use some other vest for it, plus the camera mount was different (we had to change the screw of it, you coulnt screw it tight on it cause it wouldnt go 360 degrees, so after a small change we could screw it for 90 degrees and it was mounted)

We also didnt use the monitor on the navigator (which also weights alot) and well...we didnt use the M2.. (how much weight is the M2 actually?)
