Can anyone verify this? We're contemplating a third purchase, but this would push the schedule a bit tighter than we planned...

It's been mentioned here a few times.
Unfortunately the announcement is supposed to be made publicly on the 26th of this month.
That's the reason why we are extending our specials until that date. We would've just let the specials run forever.

I can confirm this in Canada. Just talked to my Sony Rep, prices have ALREADY increased on the EX cameras. Thankfully the Rep I dealed with purchased a few cameras at the old price and so I JUST put my order out for another EX1 this morning, and got it for hte old price!

The rep also said there is a second price increase in January.

Its weird because, yes it was supposed to take in effect on the 27th of November, but Sony has already upped the price here in BC...

The wholesale price went up about 6.6% here. Even price of batteries went up too!

Kinda sucks, I bought my first EX1 about 3 weeks ago...and now that the price increase is happening, I'm forced to buy my second one now (instead of January when I actually need it). Thankfully I got it at the old price, BUT I hve to pay the new price for batteries....grrr

Batteries went up a WHOLE 17%!!!!

Funny, just checked B&H and their EX1 just dropped $200. This could very well be a plan to push immediate sales, "before the BIG price increase." Don't expect they'll be able to hold onto the high prices - as consumer prices dropped 2.8% in Oct. and will probably drop more as demand softens significantly.

That is not a very drastic price increase so I think that they will be able to hold onto the high prices...at least for a while.
