is there a such an interconnect that is 2.5mm Male to XLR male?

i have a wireless mic that has a female 2.5mm output and a hvx200a which is XLR...so whats the best way to get these connected?

i'm thinking about using my existing 2.5mm Male -> 3.5 stereo mini Male interconnect and connecting it to a 3.5 stereo female -> xlr male.

will all these interconnect cables drop my audio quality though?

Stacking connectors like that can lead to headaches with potential for all sorts of misconnections as you go from stereo to mono and balanced to unbalanced. The starting point is you (and anyone helping you here) has to know exaclty what the pin assignments are in the 2.5mm output of your mic - hard to help when you haven't said what mic you're using.

Don't stack adaptors.

Though I'm surprised at the 2.5mm socket - I don't know of any radio system that uses connectors this small.

But you *will* need to know how the socket is wired to enable you to connect to the XLR - I find many people wire incorrectly when just using standard adaptors.

yea its a cheapo mic system - samson am1

hmm...what can i use to connect this?

Make up a cable wired as to the diagram on page 17 of the manual. 2.5mm tip to XLR pin 2, 2.5mm sleeve to XLR pin 1, both 2.5mm ring and XLR pin 3 left unconnected.

nevermind!

so i looked in my accessories box that came with my samson am1 and it had just what i needed.

i searched all over the web and couldn't find any cable like this, so its pretty rare...unless you make it yourself i guess

It comes with a 2.5mm to XLR cable???????? The blurb I read says it comes with a 2.5 M to 3.5 M stereo. But you may not be able to plug that into a 3.5 F to XLR and have it work properly - it depends on whether the ring is connected to pin 3 on the XLR or not (it shouldn't be).

Custom adapter cable source

http://www.redco.com is a specialty vendor of cable, connectors, etc. They also make custom cables of a wide variety of styles. They have a web page where you can specify your cable and get a price instantly.

They show only 3.5mm mini plugs, not 2.5, so you might have to email them to see if they can also do 2.5mm. I would be they can.

I have no connection with this vendor except that I buy cable and connectors from them. I build my own cables and adapters, so I have no first-hand experience with their service.

As time goes by .........

Did anyone hear about this cable. With the popularization of the GH2, it may exist now. I´m looking to connect a XLR powered mic directly into the GH2 without use 2 adapters. Better if it has a low to high impedance transformer.
