2:35 footage on 5d?

Just wondering if it's possible to shoot in 2:35 on the 5d or a non crude way to matte the screen as such?

probably the easiest way is to use magic lantern to get 2.35:1 crop marks on screen while filming, then matte in post.

This is probably as crude as it gets, but I just use clear scotch tape, easily adjustable and replaceable. A less crude solution would be to neatly mark an lcd protector.

I don't think so. You can see the composition (framing) really takes advantage of the cinemascope crop.
See for example the framing at 38". No way to guess a really nailed composition.
