Ok. just a quick question.
I've noticed that newer tvs and Dvd players can play progressive scan using 3:2 (or is it 2:3)pull down. While this is nice, what happens when it gets something thats been encoded using 2:3:3:2 pull down?
Am I making sense?
Im just wondering if newer TVs can handle 24PA. And if theres a noticable difference between that and 24P on a progressive scan TV.

Thanks

Mark

No. There's no 24pA extant in DVD players or TVs. It's a method of bringing 24p footage in as 60i.

If you put out a 60i AVI with the 2-3-3-2 pulldown inserted, the DVD encoding/authoring software will treat it like any other 60i footage and render it into 60i MPEG-2.

If you encode from your timeline as 24p MPEG-2, there's no pulldown inserted -- the DVD player does that when sending out a standard TV signal.

Note taht to playback smoothly you need to output 60i or 24p to a DVD.
24pa isn't meant to for playback so will not be smooth on any system until it's converted to 24.
