Man that was awesome can you please tell me how lens did you use and camera. I am thinking of buying sankor 16c any idea if it is good and how did you control vignetting

Thanks ans awsome job

While I think you did a good job, I'll say I'm not very fond of the look of 2X glass on a 16x9 sensor.

I dunno, I think they pulled it off pretty well here:

The OP's video, on the other hand, looks pretty good, except that it does at times seem fairly croppy, like more care could be taken to use the aspect ratio for strong composition instead of just looking overly cropped on the top and bottom. Especially the close ups seem like they are just a bit too close. It makes me wish there was a bit more going on in the frame or the emptiness of the sides of the frame was justified with some symbolism. I think anamorphic can really work to isolate a subject and make them seem alone like they did in that Taylor Swift video, or it can be good for really panoramic wides, and some of those landscapes worked very well in this video. How were the landscape and cloud videos shot? Also, I'm not sure I understand the imagery of the runner.

Which anamorphic lens was used?

As for the content... I've never seen a christian rap music video before. I guess its pretty similar to a lot of popular rap nowaways in that it primarily preaches about a particular lifestyle. Just replace ho's, guns, and money with religious indoctrination. It could use a bit better beat though :)

Thanks for the constructive feedback..always great getting different perspectives of film making. Will definately take that on board for the next project.

The imagery of the runner was to bring pace, energy, something different to the video. Due to production/budget/ timing which kind of bodged things up. I just wanted to show struggle and triumph and postiivity. In some shots it work and others not so much (it was 40degrees (Australian temp) that day too!!)

X2 B&H KOWA was ised. Yeh theres alot of music out there lol.... but i guess its not my job too judge (unless its really terrible ha).

Ray.

BTW would be good if you can give me some contructive criticism of the imagery of the runner? What did you like or not like about it? did it really work?

I do not like the anamorphic look to this video. Shot too cropped, and overall image looks really soft. I liked the framing of the basketball player and the athlete and how they were intercut to the song. IMO what could have made it look better is first and foremost a better color grade, looks real dull and flat. Second the framing on the artist was off, those nice wide views yet she is given a close up perspective in a song that does not feel intimate. I think you did a cool job for the video but I would have liked to have seen some wides, better color and an overall tighter edit.

This video to me even though cost 100's of thousands of dollars is something I would be looking at at least framing wise for great outdoor shots.

ps. Keep working, never give up on anything you Love

Thanks for the feedback @J.F.R.

I'll take the feedback about the color, I'm not a professional color grader but had to make do due to the budget and timing. There are flat color type music vids out there (I guess its a preference) but thanks for that different point view.

How do you think the closeup perspective should have been shot to make it more intimate?

Tighter edit? examples ...

I was using a ff camera so was limited to the wides but next time i'll use a cropped or m4/3.

Thanks for the feedback!

I also thinks it is too soft.. What f-stop did you have on lenses? Did you use any diopter for closeups?

I am getting my B&H in two weeks and I will try it on GH3 to see how sharp it can be..

Keep trying !!!
