&@$#%^!

Max - prayers & best wishes to your dad for a speedy & full recovery.

ChipG - condolences on your grandmother. 93 is awesome, glad she had a full life.

A reminder to all - life is far shorter than we ever think - no one gets out alive. Be sure to touch those closest to your heart often lest it be your greatest regret.

Sorry to hear about that Max....best wishes.

Dude. There's got to be a DVXuser nearby to do your dirty work.

Surely someone on here is good at swinging a sack filled with DVXuser batteries.

Well, the butcher's bill is in. Two fractured ribs, a fractured clavicle, a broken nose, scalp and forearm lacerations requiring stitches, a left-side pneumothorax. He's refusing to let me visit with him until he's back home (probably didn't even want my mother telling my brother and me, to begin with).

Two CAT scans confirm no cranial or neurological injury.

I'm willing to be optimistic. My father has always been youthful for his age and has darned remarkable recuperative powers which are reportedly already kicking in. It'll take more than some careless idiot pile of clothing with a car, to bring down my old man.

For some reason what I find the most infuriating is the busted nose. Lacerations aside it's the most superficial of Dad's injuries, but somehow the broken nose is just insulting.

F***'n ey! Glad to hear.

My dad (being a pretty enthusiastic cyclist) has ended up in hospital at the hands/wheels of the retarded drivers in this country more times than I like to think about...last one was particularly bad...titanium pin... leg a couple of inches shorter. It's a horrible, hopeless feeling seeing your loved ones in hospital but sounds like your dad will be sore but back on his feet and ready for action sooner or later....Bloody good news

I think I know what you mean. It is imposing itself onto every social moment of his current and near future life. Even if one wasn't at all concerned with looks, the fact that it has ANY sort of impact on your interactions... even if just for the nuisance of having to repeat the story over, and over, and over... this person forced himself onto his life. There are many types of injuries.

I am glad to hear that your Dad is doing OK and that things aren't more serious. Hope he gets better fast. Be thankful to have him with you.

And keep venting. It may also be something necessary, for you.

Just saw this. Ouch!
I'm happy to hear in the end that your Dad is looking at a full recovery. Hopefully everything from this point on goes well for him.

MAH

i wanted to see he was doing better before asking this, but what kind of idiot
a) doesn't look behind them before backing up?
b) continues backing up after they feel the thud of hitting something?
