176mbps hack on Gh1?

I have had some time off GH1 and now there's 176mbps hack ? is this on Gh1 or Gh2 ? or both?
If GH1 can handle it, where can I find it?
I'd also like to know pros and cons. I've missed that thread somewhere, cant find it.
If someone could point me in the right direction, I appreciate it!

GH1 can not handle that high bit rates, but there are GOP-1 settings for GH1 too. I used the settings posted by Ryan Kozicki: http://vimeo.com/25218308

The good thing is that when bit rates stay below 100 Mbit/s the quality is very good and motion rendering is vastly improved compared to long GOP format. The bad news is that bit rate shoots over 100 Mbit/s very easily and the camera stops recording. These settings maintain high bit rate in low light, so they are best suited for shooting in the dark.

If you can find a way to limit bit rate to stay under 100 Mbit/s using under exposure, ND filter, diffuser filter and shooting at wide aperture, GOP-1 settings for GH1 may be worth testing. Below some frame grabs shot with Tokina AT-X 35-70 zoom lens at full aperture f2.8 and links to full size images. Bit rates varied between 50 - 100 Mbit/s.
