GH5 17-55mm vignetting with GH5s

well, sorry but I think you got it wrong : its the ultra that is 0.71x, and the XL ks 0.64. so the XL would only vignette more !

Went to try out the Sigma 17-50/2.8 today which vignettes as well...
was thinking about the sigma 17-75/2.8-4 but I'm guessing it'll be the same...

I don't really see anything but to wait for metabones to come up with another version ! And i bought mine for nothing....

You are correct, I got it the wrong way round. Corrected my post. I used the original Metabones Speed Booster /MFT (also 0.71) with the AF100 which has the same width sensor as the GH5S without any vignetting, so you are saying the Ultra (0.71) is vignetting with the Sigma 17-50? I used a Nikon DX (similar to APC/S) Zoom with mine without vignetting.

You can still use Full Frame Canon lenses without vignetting, as the projected image circle will be larger, and should not vignette.
But the Sigma Zooms seem to have a rather small projected is ge circle at the wide end.
Sorry about the mixup.

To the best of my knowledge, the AF100 sensor is not exactly the same size as the GH5s sensor. The GH5s has re-introduced the multi-aspect ratio sensor size that was in the GH2, which has a slightly wider FOV than other GH cameras, and also the AF100. I remember doing a test with the GH2 and AF100 back in the day. I put the same lens on both cameras and the GH2 had a wider FOV (which is why I decided not to buy the AF100 back then).

Yep, both sigma's and Canon's 17-50(55) vignette.
I do know I wouldn't have this problem with full frame lens, that is the point of my post ! I can't find a zoom in this similar range that wouldn't vignette...

You are correct, the overall sensor size in the GH5S is larger with an overall width of 19.3mm at 4168 pixels, full sensor, but at 16.9 ratio, the camera only uses 3840 pixel width, which is 17.75mm and the AF100 is 17.8mm wide (Barry Green lists the AF100 sensor at 17.8mmx10mm, as does Panasonic), and the sensor in the GH2/3 was also 17.8mm x 13mm. So with a GH3 set to 4:3 is going to look like a slightly wider, but in 16:9 they both should have been close, but the AF100 did bin the edge pixels when debayered, so it may have been slightly less wide looking.

The AF100 only used the 16:9 aspect ratio, no multi-aspect ratios, with the sensor only using 10mm depth for the 16:9 ratio, instead of the larger MFT 13mm depth, and the AF100 was also video specific sensor like the GH5S, but the similarities end there. The GH5S is full 4K, the AF100 was only HD.

Of course the GH5S is much more advanced, and with the added sensor depth and width, it can maintain a constant image diagonal at the different aspect ratios (except 1:1) tohat use the full width of the image circle, like 4:3, 16:9 and 17:9. A 17.3 sensor like the GH4/5 use can not maintain the image circle diagonal at the different aspect ratios, as the 17.3x13mm sensor is the 4:3 MFT format. So 16:9 etc are all crops drown of the full sensor. You can see this in small,e,shots taken with the same focal length lens on the GH5 and GH5S
Cheers
