16x9 HD to 4:3 SD in-camera dub?

Hi ya'll -
I'm trying to figure out if the HVX can downconvert 16x9 HD shot on the P2 card back to standard def DV tape, FULL SCREEN - not letterboxed. Is there any way to do the aspect rate converion in camera as it dubs?

The bigger issue is that I want to use the interval recording feature to do timelapses - I need them ultimately to be full screen 4x3 - and I see no way to do this to tape directly.
Thanks for any info!

It will only downconvert as full-screen anamorphic 16x9. There is no provision for letterboxing, and there is no center-frame extraction for 4:3. The downconverted video will be full-frame 16x9.

Hi KG:

As Barry mentioned, you are somewhat limited if you're going to do a downcovert directly from the P2 to tape.

However, I just did a downrez of my HD project to SD in compressor. Then in SP4, you have lots of options on how you would like to display your final product. I choose letterbox so that if someone has a 16x9 TV or projector, it fill up the entire screen. For those who have a 4:3 projector or TV, it will be just like a movie from Blockbuster in letterbox that really looks great. My project was 35 minutes with multi streams of audio and video.

Hope this helps,

eric
