16mm X HVX FOOOOOTAGE!!

NICE!

I went to B&H before I went out of town to look at the HVX.

Not cause I'm gonna buy one or anything.....

Just wanted to play with it a bit....

THEY DIDN'T HAVE ONE FOR ME TO HOLD!!

:(

Nice.

I liked the S16 version a bit better but the HVX200 one is pretty close.

Any outdoor shot ?

Well done! It has gotten to the point where the average person (and many professionals)
will not be able to tell the difference. Gotta love it. :love4:

That's a pretty good comparison... I can barely see a difference and the HVX looked sharper to me... still waiting on the second clip to download but from everything I've seen footage wise the HVX is an amazing revolution in the prosumer and indie film area.....

how about a little more INFO on the S16mm ..
you shot S16mm - which stock ?
you then telecined to VHS , DV, digibeta, HD , 2k scans ??
what are we looking at here ?
the HVX was shot in SD? 720? 1080 ? 24p, 30p
the project was editied 24p ? ( you removed the pull down on S16)
rendered to ??

You can barely notice any difference at all xray and those differences are not neccassarily better as is !

Both shots are great looking

Wow, I love film but for a prosumer camera to come this close is truly amazing. Granted this is one instance but the HVX sure looks nice.

Q: What do you call a "pro-sumer" camera that uses DVCproHD to basically match the quality of a $100,000 film camera?

A: Professional.

Xray, please knock off the trolling. I deleted your last post for your sarcastic smack against these guys' comparison. And I deleted your earlier sarcastic smack against the validity of this comparison.

These are people out there taking time out of their day to put together a side-by-side and post it for all to see.
You should be saying "thank you" to them for their efforts. We do not need you taking sarcastic jabs at them. I have deleted your most recent useless sarcastic stab at this comparison, and will continue to do so. This behavior of yours is unwelcome on this forum. If you can't play nicely, please don't come back.

Say you prefer film, that's fine. You are more than entitled to your opinion, and to share it. But to ridicule or mock a comparison because you don't like the frame size is counterproductive and hostile, and is not welcome here. If you don't like the way a comparison is done, get out there and make your own and show us how it should be done, but don't sit there taking potshots from the peanut gallery.

REGULATE EM BARRY!!!! btw my HVX just came in the mail today. gonna try some night beach shots tonight and tomorrow do shots all over this tropical island. hopefully get some shots with alot of color. any requests? btw i cant shoot in 720 yet cuz they had no P2 cards in stock...but SD should be fine right guys?

I'm sure many people would love to see some SD DV. Not everyone is ready for the jump up to HD or the additional expense of P2, so hit us up with some 24p 16x9 DV of tropical Guam, please! We definitely look forward to seeing some gorgeous tropical island sunsets and whatever else you can share.

I'm curious at that one stabsteer

I saw The Devils Rejects this past summer on the big sceen and the S16 is horrible blown up; only horrible from a 'I'm looking for it kind of way' but really; I wonder how much we would notice ?

I pulled this from cinematography.net

'.....a 2K scan (2048 x 1550?) is only slightly bigger than an "HD" scan at 1920 x 1080.' Apparently the difference would be with the 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 RGB Data

Barry? Is this applicable here ?
