16mm pancake vs. Kit Lens

Hey guys,

Just wondering...besides that the 16mm NEX pancake is a bit faster and wider than the kit lens at 18mm, there is not much other difference, right?

Both are autofocus and only the kit lens has IS. Is there any other reason one would purchase the 16mm one or is it pretty very similar to the kit at 18mm?

That is true to an extent, but really, how much heavier is the kit lens? considering it has IS, would it not be a better advantage > weight?

you would not use IS on a stabiliser

For a handheld unit weight is bad (fatigue)

the 16 appreals to me on merit of size

the kit is far more general purpose
