16mm film, Converted to HDCAM 1080, needing to downscale to 720 30P. How?

Hi,

I have a friend who is shooting footage with a 16mm camera, and he is going to have it converted to 1080 HDCAM footage. He's wondering how to get that down to 720 30P.

He also has 30P and 24P footage shot with the HVX200. How can he allow those to work together in the same timeline?

I don't personally own the camera, I'm asking on his behalf.

Thanks!

Why 30P Is he using the 30P footage as slow motion? If not, he's pretty screwed if there is any kind of frame motion at all in the 30P footage. 30P and 24P do not play nice together at all, that is if you are editing them in the same 24P timeline. 60i and 24P play fine, as well as 30P and 60i, so the only way to edit this footage would be to put them both in a 60i timeline. Now depending on what your delivery format is, this could be fine, or it could be the kiss of death. If this is just for broadcast then he should be fine, but if it is to be a film release, well, he's not going to be happy with the results.

30P has less strobing in left to right panning than 24P, and he often requires faster panning, as he shoots extreme sports videos.

Yes but the original 16mm footage was shot 24fps.

Damnit. So is there not a single way to integrate 30P and 24P footage into a single final video?

Sorry buddy. Your rude PM and this message are getting you reported. I don't know what games your playing but I don't like it.
