16mm anamorphic lenses on GH2

I guess I'm asking if I can attach the anamorphic lens directly to the mount, without having to attach it to another lens which will be on the mount. Not sure on teh focusing distance of 16mm lenses and how the GH2/GH1 body fits to that specification.

No, that Sankor anamorphic adapter attaches to the front filter threads of any lens that has been fitted to the M4/3 camera. In practice, you would want to use the anamorphic adapter with a 50mm or longer lens whose front lens barrel does not rotate when either focused or zoomed.

Technically that is no anamorphic lens, but an anamorphic attachment which requires a taking lens, which can be any other lens you normally put on your camera.

I use a similar attachment (from Kowa) on an Canon 50mm FD, or on a Helios 44m.

The Sankors are good, but heavier than the Kowas.

With these attachments you will have to focus both taking lens and attachment, which can be very fiddly. Only anamorphic attachments from Iscorama afaik don't need focusing of the taking lens (it can be set to infinity).
You can get really good results with this attachment, but it is very slow to get proper focus.
Also -as long as GH1 shoots 16:9 only- you will have an aspect ratio of 3.58 which is really too wide to be useful. A 4:3 HD mode could already be in the making for the hack, i don't know.

Ok Gotcha. That's how I've been using it, wasn't sure how the anamorphic "adapter" projects light onto the sensor, or the background lens rather....
