16 bit or 12?

When I plug in 2 XLR mics to the DVX100b, is the audio bering recorded at 16 bits or 12 bits???

What is recommended? I would obvously like to use 16bit but am slightly worried that the audio would be too big of a file. (For a full movie length to be edited on premiere pro 2.0)

Can you even render a finished piece as 12-bit? I don't recall ever seeing anything less than 16-bit as an option. (Never used Premiere, though)

Always go 16-bit at all times.
