16:9 squeeze mode.

hi, i am still sorta unfamilar with all of these forums, and wasnt too sure about where to put this..but I was just wondering. on the dvx100(a) the 16:9 squeeze mode,is this better than the squeeze mode for them little 1 chip cameras, like widescreen mode ect..i wasnt too sure if this mode was the real native 16:9 but i thought it wasnt, correct me if i was wrong, and tell me more about the 16:9 on the dvx100

In brief, sqeeze mode will give you approximately 25% less resolution than using an anamorphic adapter. Read Barry's book on the DVX100 to get the full details. I look at that book as kind of the bible for the DVX100 (a's).

After viewing both modes, I've reluctantly concluded that the native 4:3 mode is best. I'd like to shoot my documentary in 16:9, but have been a little disappointed with the reduced resolution (especially on a nice 60-inch HDTV). If you must have 16:9 and are using a DVX, I'd go for the anamorphic adapter.

DMB- Check out Berry's Book it does a great job explaining all of this.

Here is a quick answer- "no". Squeeze mode stretches the image to fit the 16:9 size. To get real native you need the adapter.
