16:9 question

Is there a way to achieve true wide screen on the DVX with a lens adaptor or anything of that sort.
Also what hapens when you watch footage shot in 4:3 on a wide screen TV? Also is it possible to make footage shot in 4:3 suitable for wide screen presentation? How is this done?
