16:9 Problems: Squeeze, Resize, or Crop

Okay. I've messed around with things a lot more and though most my hair is gone and I've ground my teeth to nubs, these are the questions I have:

I have a DVX100bp, brand new. I use FCP 5. I know there's no native 16:9 for this camera but I'm stubborn. Surely someone must know the best way to accomplish the wide look. The three ways I keep hearing are squeeze mode, standard 4:3 (which is then resized to 133.33% using motion in a widescreen sequence), and less common, creating a nonstandard 720x320 sequence and keeping the standard 4:3 image at normal size, in effect just "cropping" it.

I shoot in standard 24p, capture in 29.97 and edit on the same timebase. Do I capture/edit in progressive mode or not? I keep seeing horrible interlace lines on the resize and crop methods, and I don't know if I am doing something wrong or this just comes with the territory. If someone knows the best method for standard 24p at 16:9 could you walk me through it?

Finally, all of this is going to be web-based on the far end. Whenever I export any widescreen file, it comes out 4:3 all smashed. How do I get the file to play widescreen? This is very important for download. I know that's a lot of questions but my first shooting day is tomorrow and I'm going nuts. Thanks.

When you export anamorphic footage to a quicktime at 720x480, the player won't recognize it as anamorphic (even if it is).

If you want the quicktime movie to be widescreen, export the anamorphic footage using a custom 16:9 size , like 720x405.
