16:9 please help

If im correct the squeeze mode on the hvx200 recored on dv tape is 16:9. Why is it then when I view direct on a widescreen tv or play recorded footage the look is squeezed rather than wide?

I connected my cam to my widescreen 17" monitor and when I pointed the camera at the tv the tv did not look wide, it looks like 4:3

please help.
 
Go into the DISPLAY SETUP menu and make sure the DISPLAY ASPECT setting is AUTO and not 4:3.
