hey peeps,

Heres a small segment of a short fun commerical i did for a local drifting club last year in the summer of 2003! Yea i know its a long time ago but it was the frist day that i got the panasonic 16:9 lens! It took me 15 minutes to put the damn thing for the first time. Once on... I had alot of focusing problems! I was not at all satisfied and all my shots were out of focus. After getting use to the zoom and focus limitations... I fell in love with the stupid thing! A year later it has served me well and now use it for about 90% of the time. Is anyone disappointed with the plastic panansonic 16:9 lens? poor craftman ship?

Re: 16:9 old footage!

Thanks Ozan. i like the way you always manage to get nice crisp blacks in your footage.

Re: 16:9 old footage!

Good job,

Why did it take you 15mins to put on the lens? thinking about gettting it. Also what do I have to watchout for when shooting with the lens?

Re: 16:9 old footage!

Ozan, you do have skills man. I just have a question about the slow motion scene, was it shot in 24p? Please fill us in on this cause the scene was so smooth. I'm always looking out for footage from you. Thanks again for another great one. The out of focus looks kinda cool to be honest.

Re: 16:9 old footage!

yea filmed on 30p i think... cant rember it was alittle while ago. It took sooo long to put it on and take it off because it has a free turning center peice on the back side which attactches the the camera. I would be turning the lens for a while until it came loose. I realize that the side screw will give it tension when puting and taking it off. (I hope this makes sense?!?)

Re: 16:9 old footage!

The "Soft Focus" issue is a common one with the anamorphic adaptor. In fact some rental houses have stopped renting them because of these issues. Currently, Century Optics is working on a version. From what I understand, it should be a metal housing (versus the cheap plastic one on the panny version) and be in the $2000 range. A little expensive but quality wise I'm betting it will be worth it. I believe the projected release date is late this year / early next year.

That's crazy! So many cars doing that have hit people in the side lines by sliding to far. I hope you were back really far. Be carful.

Great clip though, love the saturated look.

I've run 30P footage through Premiere 6.5 and could never get the kind of smooth slomo you achieved. Did you have any special custom settings or filters to achieve it?

Re: 16:9 old footage!

Pretty cool. I, myself didn't get into the out of focus of it. Im sure you got all that worked out by now though since that was so old. Man, I think people overprice things myself, speaking of the extra lens. I see a bunch of stabalizers on the net going for 100 and up. When most of them, my shop can build for under 100 bucks. There is one stabalizer that costs 400 bucks and we recreated (or will) for under 50 bucks. Its just stupid how companies out there try to scam people. Maybe I should start a company and come up with all kinda adapaters and stuff for video equiptment and make each thing atleast 100 less than the cheapest price out there. Screw all them overpriced wankers LOL!

Once again though, nice footage anyway. Looks like it was fun being there!
