I am going to be shooting a film this spring on my dvx-100b. I intend to shoot in 24PA with the possibiliy of uprezing it to HD. My question is this, if I plan on uprezing to HD, am I better of shooting in letterbox or sqeeze mode? Thank you in advance to anyone who answers.

If there is a difference between letterbox and squeeze, it's pretty negligible. The decision usually comes down more to convenience and workflow than resolution.

If you want to uprez, your best bet is to use the anamorphic adaptor so you get some real increase in usable resolution.

I thought about that, but I forgot to mention that we are going to be using the redrock m2 adapter. Based on that and what you are saying, it really down't matter, or do you or anyoone have any other suggestions when regarding the m2?

What kind of lenses will you use with the M2? You can get specifically anamorphic 35mm lenses, but they are expensive.

Either way, don't expect much from an HD uprez. I haven't seen one that impressed me yet. InstantHD in particular really does not look good. It seems to uprez and then posterize to smooth edges, but it doesn't look right.

I see what you are saying. I was planning on using the nikon lenses, but if there is a way to rent these more expensive 35mm anamorphic lenses, I will do that. Do you know the name o these anamorphic 35 lenses off the top of your head so I can look into the rental people in my area?

Well, in all reality, we really aren't in that sort of a budget range. I was just curious. I do, however, still think that it would be cheaper than actually shooting 35mm film.
